The HPA will holding the first national hip and knee prosthetics screening on 3 March at the Hospitals of Alvor and Gambelas.
Usually a high percentage of these patients are not followed regularly, this leads to lost gains or, if there is a need for a new intervention, it will have potentially worse results.
The Lower Limb Arthroplasty Unit wants to fill this gap in medical care by offering this unparalleled screening to people who have had a knee or hip replacement surgery over 5 years. The screening will consist of two X-Rays, functional evaluation by physiotherapist, consultation with orthopedic surgeon and report.
