Dr. João Bacalhau, a medical doctor, founder and Chairman of Group Hospital Particular do Algarve and involved for decades in tourism, soon identified some of the shortcomings and difficulties in medical care that was provided to the vast majority of tourists seeking the Algarve as a holiday destination.
It was in this context that the idea emerged of creating a health unit in the image of the excellent service provided by the hotel accommodation in the Algarve, focused on the clients and their wellbeing, providing differentiation in medical care and technology, hitherto non-existent in this region.
Founded on solid grounds with diverse multilingual professionals of various nationalities, the Hospital Particular do Algarve has cultivated a philosophy of patient service, constantly innovating and promoting quality policies of wellbeing for all.

In order to ensure a closer proximity a network of clinics was created, where it is possible to undergo a comprehensive range of tests and outpatient
