The Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department at HPA Gambelas has been conducting annual Obstetric Emergency drills since 2015. This year was no exception, and another Obstetric Emergency Simulation programme was carried out.
These drills serve as a way to practice the procedures to be followed in response to specific Obstetric Emergencies. In this way, the team applies their skills and knowledge to act with the highest levels of safety and precision.
The drills are carried out regularly to keep the team updated and to identify any potential gaps, so that individual or group factors that may endanger the lives of the mother and fetus can be corrected.
This year, the following objectives were achieved by the team:
- Improve the quality of the Maternity, Pregnant Women, and Postpartum Care team at HPA Gambelas.
- Train the team for obstetric emergency situations within the department, thereby enhancing professional practice and teamwork.
- Help the team evaluate and improve their response in obstetric emergencies.
- Identify areas for quality improvement.
- Test the speed of resolution of obstetric emergencies.
