Recognizing its social responsibility to this cause, the HPA Health Group joined the Algarve Oncology Association in the promotion of another Mamamaratona by providing an onsite ambulance where cardiac screening also took place.
This event aims to create awareness in the general public of of breast cancer prevention. This year approximately 5000 people participated in the event, the proceeds of which went towards the construction of Casa Flores das Dunas in Faro. This building will provide a temporary home for people undergoing daily sessions of radiotherapy and whose residence is not in Faro.
The name of this house symbolizes a wild flower found in the coastline and cliffs of the Algarve – the Armeria. This wild flower although fragile, is remarkably resistant to adverse weather conditions, such as the heroines who daily brave breast cancer.
