Being in the 65 years age group or order means being more susceptible to a decline in health. Approximately one third of people in this age group have a history of one fall per year, with associated injuries, decreased functional capacity and increased mortality, which is today one of the most serious public health issues.
Muscle weakness, gait disturbances and changes in balance are factors that promote falls and are associated with aging, however they can be altered with the regular practice of structured physical exercise.
