The staff members of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Hospital Particular in Gambelas, celebrated World Prematurity Day with parents and babies by sharing a coffee break with the parents and offering the babies a small gift.
It was a moment of recalling shared experiences with good humour some more uncertain and distressing than others, but today all remembered with the joy of holding a super hero.
Approximately 9000 premature babies are born in Portugal each year, representing 10% of all births. In spite of the technological and scientific evolution, prematurity is still responsible for one third of child deaths.
