THE HPA GROUP CELEBRATES PREMATURITY DAY

It was a relaxed but emotional get together at the Hospital in Gambelas, when on the 17th of November - World Prematurity Day was celebrated.

Parents acceded to our invitation and together with their little heroes participated in the activities that we has organized.

A lecture and baby massage was given resulting in a period of relaxation and complicity among all.

This was followed by a  coffee break and a little gift for the little ones.

Parents also had the chance to share their experiences, doubts and anxieties, a time of shared emotions and tenderness and a time of great  joy for all present.

Prematurity has increased in recent years, being the first cause of death in newborns.

It is estimated that approximately 10% of babies are born prematurely.  Several factors contribute to this:  previous medical history of preterm birth. Obesity, diabetes, hypertension, smoking or age ( under 17 or over 40 years).

The HPA Health Group meets all the requirement for taking care of babies that are born prematurely.

A full range of screening tests are available, but above all, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit has all the technological and human support  necessary to treat these babies.
