Acupuncture is a method of diagnosis and treatment that makes it possible to correct certain dysfunctions or conditions. Small needles are introduced in specific anatomical points, with local, segmental and supra-segmental effect.
From a physiological point of view, the effects of acupuncture occur when endogenous substances, endorphins, neurotransmitters and hormones, acting on the central and autonomic nervous system are released.
Acupuncture has proven efficient with positive results in the treatment if several conditions such as musculoskeletal disorders; hip and knee osteoarthritis, lower back pain, chronic shoulder pain, tension headache and dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain).
Acupuncture can be used at any age and as an alternative treatment in situations where drugs are not indicated, such as in pregnancy, allergies, renal and heart failure.
