Chiropractic is a form of alternative medicine used in the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system especially the spine. By manipulation of the joints, tensions and secondary muscle contractures are eliminated. By repositioning the spinal column, it is possible to decompress the affected nerve roots situated between the vertebrae, intervening directly and reflexively on various symptoms and pathologies that affect the organs and tissues enervated by them.
There are two Chiropractic techniques: Old Fashion Chiropractic, which involves manipulating the joints in a classic way, positioning them in a certain way and using the hands to correct the existing subluxations. The New Chiropractic or "Activator" uses an instrument (activator) that applies a defined force and direction to correct subluxations. This second method which we practice permits a safer and more accurate approach.
Chiropractic is particularly effective in treating pain of the spinal column (cervical, dorsal, lumbar, sacrum and coccyx), especially when the cause is poor posture or pain irradiation due to vertebral syndromes (e.g. sciatica). However, in the treatment of other pathology, chiropractic may be an added advantage either on its own or in combination with other therapies.
