Increase of the glutes by fat grafting: gluteoplasty
The increase in volume and projection of the gluteal region can be achieved by the introduction of silicone prostheses, but fat injection is a more frequent and advantageous option due to the several advantages it presents, compared to implants: the availability of fat for grafting, the simultaneous benefit of the liposuction procedure, the non-use of a foreign body and the more favourable postoperative period.
The amount of fat injected is variable, depending on its availability (usually removed from the abdomen, flanks, and thighs) and the volume and projection that is intended. The survival rate of the fat initially grafted is another variable, due to part of the fat undergoing some resorption.

O aumento de volume e projeção da região glútea pode ser conseguido pela introdução de próteses de silicone, mas a injeção de gordura é uma opção mais frequente e vantajosa pelas diversas mais valias que apresenta, comparativamente aos implantes: a disponibilidade de gordura para enxertia, o benefício simultâneo do procedimento de lipoaspiração, a não utilização de um corpo estranho e o pós-operatório mais favorável.
A quantidade de gordura injetada é variável, dependendo da disponibilidade da mesma (habitualmente removida do abdómen, flancos e coxas) e do volume e projeção que se pretende, como variável é, também, a taxa de sobrevivência da gordura inicialmente enxertada, sendo expectável que parte da gordura sofra alguma reabsorção.
