HPA Saúde Group has reached an important milestone in men’s health: the completion of 1,000 low-intensity shockwave therapy sessions, aimed at treating erectile dysfunction and Peyronie’s disease.
This innovative method stands out for being non-invasive, painless and safe, showing promising results in improving sexual function and patients’ quality of life.
Low-intensity shockwaves are sound waves that stimulate the formation of new blood vessels. They enhance the delivery of proteins to the targeted area, promoting neovascularisation from the existing capillary network, thereby improving erection quality and penile rigidity.
Shockwave therapy helps restore spontaneous erections, supports the recovery of erectile tissue in the corpora cavernosa, and does not interact with other medications.
Since its implementation in October 2022, within the Special Examinations Unit at HPA Gambelas, this project has steadily established itself as a distinctive therapeutic approach. Under the responsibility of Nurse Renato Gonçalves, who oversees its implementation and ongoing monitoring, the initiative is based on advanced technology and rigorous specialised clinical follow-up.
