The Medical Care Departments of the Hospital Particular do Algarve are available 24 hours a day 365 days a year, providing ongoing medical care, able to respond to emergency and surgical situations.

The medical and nursing teams of the Medical Care Departments of the Hospital Particular do Algarve are highly qualified and experienced, able to respond to all medical emergencies at any time of the day or night.

The possibility of an immediate response, both technical and human, in Imaging (X-Ray, CT and MRI Scans), Clinical Analysis, Intensive Care Unit, Operating Theatre and In-Patient Facilities permit us to ensure safety and excellence in the services we provided patients that seek our services in an emergency situation.

The Medical Care Unit consists of:
  • Observation Room (OR), beds for close monitoring of all patients
  • Plaster and Dressings Rooms
  • Nurses Station
  • Treatment Rooms
  • Doctor’s Consulting Rooms

This Department is equipped with technology and medical equipment that enable rapid and effective assessment of all patients.


Important Information

Admission procedures must be carried out at the Reception, and patients must wait to be called for medical care.

It is important to have with you, an identification document as well as health insurance information.

Being a Private Hospital, if patients do not posses health insurance there is the possibility of adhering to the hospital CareCard, which will provide a discount on hospital treatment.

The most common situations that should make one decide to go to the Medical Care Department of the Algarve Private Hospital are:
  • High Temperature
  • Serious injury
  • Severe bleeding (vomiting blood, bloody stools and other)
  • Traffic accidents
  • Food poisoning
  • Excessive intake of drugs
  • Intense chest pain or any other pain that is intense and uncomfortable
  • Loss of consciousness

  • Sudden loss of vision  
  • Sudden changes of speech and body movements
  • Suspected fracture
