Cryotherapy
Cryotherapy is a procedure used as a preventive measure against some of the side effects of chemotherapy.
Scalp cooling (scalp cryotherapy):
involves the use of a refrigerated cap that reduces blood flow to the hair follicles, helping to prevent or minimise hair loss.
Scalp cooling (scalp cryotherapy):
Applied to the hands and feet, it reduces the risk of peripheral neuropathy and nail changes, which are common side effects of drugs such as paclitaxel, docetaxel and oxaliplatin.
Both techniques are safe, carried out under the guidance of the medical and nursing team, and individually tailored to meet the needs of each patient.
